How to Ace Your Virtual Interview
This is an infographic designed to help anyone that is preparing for a virtual interview be successful on the big day.
Audience: Anyone preparing for a virtual interview
Responsibilities: Instructional Design, Design Principles
Tools Used: Canva
The Process
In preparation for my own virtual interview, I created an infographic in Canva that explains five steps for achieving success. This project allowed me to practice the design principles of contrast, repetition, alignment, and proximity.
I chose two fonts for the title that had a significant amount of contrast in weight and style, which draw the reader’s eyes to the page.
I repeated colors, shapes, fonts, spatial relationships, lines, and graphic styles throughout the design. The repetition helped create unity and visual interest on the infographic.
I aligned the numbers, text boxes, and images both vertically and horizontally to create a clean look. I used left-aligned text to create a sophisticated and unified design.
I grouped each tip with its number and corresponding image to help organize the information, convey relationships, and provide a clear structure to the reader. Doing this also helped me achieve an appealing amount of white space.
To create this infographic, I also selected the complementary colors blue and orange in order to end up with a cohesive design.
The Reflection
It was fun to experiment with the design principles and Canva technology. I challenged myself to create an infographic from scratch, rather than using one of the premade templates. Moving forward, I would like to play more with background elements to enhance my designs.
